This category, regulated by CNIG Resolution No. 45/2021, allows digital nomads to live in Brazil for up to one year (renewable) without having an employment relationship with Brazilian companies.

Who can apply for Digital Nomad Residency?
- Professionals working remotely for companies or clients abroad;
- Individuals with no employment relationship with a company in Brazil;
- Immigrants with a monthly income of US$ 1,500 or more, or bank funds totaling at least US$ 18,000;
- Individuals who use technology and communication tools to perform their professional activities.
*Professionals with an employment relationship in Brazil or those performing local activities do not qualify for this category.
How long can I stay in Brazil as a digital nomad?
- The initial authorization period is up to one year;
- It may be renewed for an equal period upon submission of updated documents;
- The process may be initiated outside Brazil (at a consulate) or within Brazil, if the professional is already in the country.
